Chicken Salna Recipe (Tamil Nadu Style) – All Time Favorite

All-time favorite recipe in Tamil Nadu is Chicken Salna which had with deep roasted parotta aside. This salna is slowly prepared with spicy masala’s and then with chicken pieces till it gets cooked well. The flavors of this spicy masala’s will deeply mixed with chicken pieces which gives the amazing taste.

Ingredients: 
Chicken (500 grams)
Onion (2)
Tomatoes (2)
Ginger (1 inch)
Garlic (4 cloves)
Curry leaves (1 sprig)
Garam masala powder (1 tablespoon)
Red chilli powder (2 teaspoon)
Turmeric powder (1/2 teaspoon)
Salt
Cooking oil

To Grind
Fennel seeds (2 teaspoon)
Whole Black Pepper Corns (1 teaspoon)
Cinnamon Stick (1 inch)
Cloves (4)
Star anise (1)
Fresh coconut (1/4 cup)

How to Prepare?

Initially, heat the pan with oil, add fennel seeds, cinnamon stick, peppercorns and star anise and wait till it browns. Then add a half cup of grinded coconut and stir it well until it turns brown and cool it aside.

On the other side, keep another pan with oil and add chicken pieces and add some salt and turmeric and stir it well until chicken gets cooked well. Then eliminate chicken out and add some curry leaves and add garlic, ginger and stir until it gets soft.

The add some chopped onion and mix well then add some chopped tomatoes and add some salts then add the grinded roasted ingredients and give it a pleasant stir and cook well. Now you can add the chicken pieces in that gravy and add one cup of water, salt as required and cook in low flame for 10 to 12 mins.

You can alter the water consistency based on your wish and cook accordingly.

Finally, you spicy and delicious Chicken salna in Tamil Nadu style is ready to serve. You can enjoy this delicious salna with steamed rice, parotta, chapatti, Dosa etc...
